During the academic year 2017-18, UVA’s Center for Russian,
East European and Eurasian Studies organized four events as part

of the Polish Lecture Series at UVA. In the Fall semester, we wel-
comed Dr. Łukasz Michalski, director of the State Publishing In-
stitute in Warsaw, who spoke about “Polish Culture under Nazism

and Stalinism: Cultural Losses of 1939-1956.” Dr. Michalski’s talk
attracted a standing-room-only crowd of students, professors,
and community members.
