HISTORY OF POLAND AS SEEN THROUGH THE COVER OF TIME

FREE LIVE WEBINAR
WHEN: Wed. Oct. 28, 10 am EST, 2020

[WATCH RECORDING HERE]

Poland has been at the center of many key historical events in the past century – whether as a victim of invasion during World War II or the subsequent imposition of a Communist regime in Warsaw, the liberation from that regime through the Solidarity movement, the home of Pope John Paul II, and other consequential developments.

Dr. Mark Fountain has studied the occasions when Poland, in one way or another, has been featured on TIME magazine’s covers and has pulled together a fascinating history that tells the story of many of Poland’s different chapters. Please join us for a slide presentation and discussion about Poland’s time on TIME. Poland’s Ambassador to the U.S. will present the opening comments.

OPENING REMARKS:
His Excellency Piotr Wilczek, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the U.S.

GUEST SPEAKER:
Alvin (Mark) Fountain II, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in North Carolina

MODERATOR:
David J. Kramer, Director, European and Eurasian Studies Program; Senior Fellow, Václav Havel Program for Human Rights and Diplomacy, FIU
