Lady Blanka Rosenstiel Endowment Program in Polish Heritage
The Center for the Humanities at the University of Miami is proud to announce the creation of the Lady Blanka Rosenstiel Endowment Program in Polish Heritage. Although many of you are already familiar with Lady Blanka’s strong support for the dissemination and celebration of her beloved Polonia, it may be less widely known that she and her late husband – Lewis S. Rosenstiel – were prominent contributors to the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.
As such, the University of Miami is delighted that she – through The American Institute of Polish Culture – is providing additional support to the university by funding a series of programs on Polish culture and heritage. Lectures and other presentations will be coordinated in an effort to advance the understanding of Polish culture and society, while enriching University of Miami’s academic study as to the permanent influence by Poland’s various events and figures upon individuals and nations across the globe. In particular, we hope to introduce our diverse student body to – as well as promoting same throughout neighboring communities – the expanse of Poland’s legacy and its ongoing cultural dynamism.
The series was inaugurated on the 3rd of December, 2021 with an interactive webinar titled ‘Beyond Earth: Let’s Go and What to Expect in Space,’ led by Artur B. Chmielewski, Project Manager for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA. The recording of this enlightening webinar is also available for viewing on our website.
